Drakesville City Council Meeting

February 8, 2005

Roll Call was answered at 7:40 pm for the regular monthly meeting by Mayor, Robert Closser; Council Members, Sharon Sines, Jeff Sines, Brad McKee and Craig Walker; Clerk, Mary Stocker.  Also present the the Kemmerer's.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the Clerk and approved with a motion by Jeff Sines, seconded by Brad Mckee and motion carried.

The Financial Report was presented by the Clerk and a motion to accept the report and pay the July bills was made by Brad McKee, seconded by Jeff Sines & motion carried.

The Park Board minutes were read by the Clerk and a motion to accept them was made by Sharon Sines, seconded by Brad McKee and motion carried.

Sharon had attended a Regional Service Agency meeting - new officers were elected and a new contract will be coming out soon.

Fire Department Grant - no work from the firemen with regard to this.

Barbara McClure Sidewalk and tree - had yet to get a tree removal person and discussed the fact that the sidewalk would be used during the reunion more than normal.

Dog & Cat Ordinance - dogs are to remain tied and nothing can be done about the cats.

The junked and unlicensed vehicles and other junk was discussed.  Mayor has yet to meet with our Attorney to get the letters issued.

Street Report: Street Commissioner was not present, but the short street near the metal building in the park needs fixed before the reunion parade.  Bob to get hold of Chris.

Also, ditch right-of-ways and bushes near stop signs and hanging tree limbs need removed before the reunion due to extra traffic and people walking around town. The County can do our ditch work, but Southern Iowa Asphalt also can.  Following discussion, of his estimate of no more than $4500 and he would be in the area anyway, a motion was made by Jeff Sines, seconded by Brad McKee to allow Southern Iowa Asphalt to do the ditch work.

The Clerk reported that two CD's had matured and she will not reinvest them - will use for the street work and also requested to borrow $20,000 from the Davis Co. Savings Bank for additional funds so we would have some cushion for any unexpected things.  Motion by Jeff Sines, seconded by Sharon Sines to borrow the $20,000.  Motion carried.

Motion to adjourn was made by Jeff Sines, seconded by Craig Walker and meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm
