Drakesville City Council Meeting

February 8, 2005

On October 1, 2007 at 7:30 pm the Council met at City Hall.  Present were Mayor, Karen Rudd; Council Members, Sharon Sines, Brad McKee, Marty Thompson, Vicky Thomas and Brian Thomas; Clerk, Mary Stocker and a few citizens.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved with a motion by Brian Thomas, seconded by Marty Thompson and motion carried.

The Financial Report was presented by the Clerk and a motion to accept it and pay the bills for October payment was made by Brad McKee, seconded by Vicky Thomas and motion carried.

The Park Board minutes were read by the Clerk and a motion to accept them was made by Brad McKee, seconded by Marty Thompson and motion carried.

There was no miscellaneous correspondence or meeting reports to discuss.  Sharon will have a Davis co. Regional Service Agency meeting Wednesday.

The Roger Blew property is slowly being cleaned up - Don Herteen has been checking weekly on the progress of it.

Oscar Mason's building had been delivered and there is some improvement to the clean - up of their property.

The Sam Closser property on Washington St. is being cleaned up and his property on Main street has been sold to Leland Jones.

Judy Marzahl property was tabled until the Council checks on some matters with regard to it.

The rock for Lines and Tines was discussed and the Council, (as many as can) will meet at the property at 4:30 Thursday, the 4th to inspect it further.

The ditch work between Walnut and 180th Street will be commencing shortly, the weeds have been trimmed.

The Clerk reported that the brush cutter was pull-type that she knew about.  The City needs a mounted one.

A building permit for the Helen Blew property (Roger Blew and Christine Reed) was presented to approve the construction of a storage shed and a fence.  A motion was made to approve the building, but not the fence.  The motion was made by Marty Thompson, seconded by Brad McKee and motion carried.  The reason for no approval on the fence was that the Council needs more detailed information as well as where exact property lines, etc. are located.

The building permit for Oscar Mason's portable building was not returned for approval.  Nor was a building permit for Rodney Mason for a building.  The Clerk will contact them.

A building permit was presented by kay & Elmer Hopkins to add a sunroom onto the south side of their home on the cement slab that is already there.  They also included a permit for a privacy fence along the west property line.  A motion was made by Marty Thompson, seconded by Brad McKee to tentatively approve the sunroom, but not the fence.  Motion carried. A regular motion for approval will be done at the November meeting as well as the Council needing more information on the fence, property line, etc.  This permit was not on the posted agenda.

Ray's Longbranch Beer Permit was up for renewal.  A motion to approve the renewal of it was made by Marty Thompson, seconded by Sharon Sines and motion carried.

October 29th was decided to be Trick/Treat night - motion by Sharon Sines, seconded by Marty Thompson and motion carried.

The Geo. Schlarbaum Mobile Home was delivered onto the property a couple of months ago and nothing has been done about getting it set in place.  The owner of the property had agreed that it would get done in good time.  The Clerk was advised to write the owner a letter and ask him to attend the November Council Meeting.

The Council then spent some time on the Mitigation Pre-Disaster plan.

A motion to adjourn was made by Brad McKee, seconded by Marty Thompson and meeting adjourned at 8:50 pm
